Territory Research for Creation

Artist Statement

Luisa Brando is dedicated to producing art and architecture projects sensitive to landscape and heritage conservation. Working across scales, mediums and geographies, she is interested in art as a research process and the cultural construction of images and imaginations on nature,  and architecture as a way of mattering and writing with the territory. Brando´s ecocentric approach to learning and drawing,  has been developing by working closely with water in particular rivers. She is as well interested in ruins, both sites and objects, in that they invoke to reflect upon time, and the intrinsic relations between the natural, the material and the inmaterial. Luisa currently lives in Madrid, teaches at Universidad de los Andes, in Bogotá, and collaborates with multiple artists and architects in projects in Colombia, New York, and Mexico.
